Laser Engraving Near Shoreditch on Reusable Bottle – Frank Green

In this case study we visit our customer frank green UK. We do laser engraving on a number of their ceramic coated reusable bottle products. The information that is engraved on the product is for product personalisation for either individuals or as corporate gifts.

laser engraving ceramic is processed on our inhouse CO2 galvo system with a f-180 F-theta lens, the engraving process of this particular component obviously depends on what is actually being laser engraved but can be anywhere between 5 seconds and 80 seconds.

As can be seen from the video, the product is laser engraved with two passes, the first pass takes off the ceramic coating of the bottle, the second pass is a cleanup pass which smooths out the engraving, as this then creates better definition around the edges of the mark for the customer.

For these a ‘V’ shaped jig with a backstop is used to locate the part. So the use of this jig is ideal as it has the required ‘V’ shape to centralise the product under the laser and a back stop to ensure that the bottles are laser engraved in the same position on the complete clients order. For better tolerances or more detailed parts, separate bespoke jig can be made and used by ourselves.

The ceramic reusable bottles are used as a reliable alternative to throw away plastic bottles with a couple of added bonuses of ‘free’ advertising for the corporate client involved and the fact that these bottles can keep the contents inside either cool or hot for a number of hours.
