Thinklasers Comprehensive Services
In the dynamic field of additive manufacturing, the Renishaw AM 125 has been a stalwart for many businesses, celebrated for its precision and efficiency. However, as Renishaw has ceased supporting the AM 125, users face challenges in maintaining and repairing their systems. At Thinklaser, we understand the importance of keeping your Renishaw AM125 operational, and we offer specialized end-of-life support for its critical optical components, ensuring your manufacturing processes continue without interruption.

Why Optical Component Support Matters
The optical components of the Renishaw AM 125, including the scan head, varioscan, and F-theta lens, are vital for the system’s precision and functionality. Over time, these components can wear out or become damaged, affecting the system’s performance. Without proper support, this can lead to increased downtime and reduced productivity. Thinklasers end-of-life support services for these optical components are designed to keep your AM 125 running smoothly.
Scanhead Repair or Replacement
The scan head is a crucial part of the laser system, responsible for directing the laser beam with high precision. Over time, the scan head may experience wear and tear, leading to inaccuracies in laser positioning and marking.
Thinklasers Solution:
- Expert Repair: Our technicians can diagnose and repair issues with your scan head, restoring its precision and functionality.
- Replacement Services: If the scan head is beyond repair, we offer high-quality replacement options to ensure your system maintains its performance standards.

Varioscan Repair or Replacement
The varioscan component is essential for adjusting the focus of the laser beam, enabling precise and variable depth marking. Malfunctions in the varioscan can result in inconsistent marking quality and reduced system efficiency.
Thinklasers Solution:
- Thorough Repairs: We provide detailed repair services for the varioscan, addressing any issues that impact its performance.
- Reliable Replacements: Should the varioscan require replacement, we supply compatible and high-quality replacements to maintain optimal system functionality.
F-theta Lens Repair or Replacement
The F-theta lens is a critical optical component that ensures the laser beam remains focused across the entire working area. Damage or degradation of the F-theta lens can lead to poor marking quality and decreased system efficiency.
Thinklasers Solution:
- Precision Repairs: Our skilled technicians can repair damaged F-theta lenses, restoring their focusing capabilities.
- High-Quality Replacements: If a repair is not feasible, we offer replacement F-theta lenses that match the specifications of your original component, ensuring continued high-quality performance.
Benefits of Choosing Thinklaser for End-of-Life Support

Frequently Asked Questions Relating to the Renishaw AM 125 Optical Support
Why doesn’t my AM 125 start correctly every time?
With the older style SPI lasers, if the laser was turned on before the PC had booted then the laser didn’t get any information about which com port or Baud rate to use, so would choose one at random. If the PC booted before the laser then the PC would instruct the laser as to the correct com port and Baud rate. So just turn the PC on before the laser system and see if that fixes the issue.
Why am I getting focus disorientations when processing with the AM 125?
The focus is actually done with the Varioscan which is the optic before the scan head. If the issue is that the focus doesn’t work, then it is down to the Varioscan not working. If the issue is that the focus isn’t stable or ‘shifts’ during a build, then this will possibly be down to a dirty lens; either the F-theta lens (attached to the scan head), the lens within the Varioscan or the protective window at the top of the build chamber.
