The laser marking of plastic electrical casing is used to place part number identification along with electrical operating information. The CE logo is included for European compliance. Marking of this electrical case presents some interesting challenges. For example, traditionally with red materials, it is difficult to achieve high levels of contrast, due to the colour being in the same wavelength zone, but in this case the results are very clean. Very little heat absorption occurs around the laser marking area providing a nice sharp image. Multiple laser passes are used to build up the contrast levels.
