In this case study we visit our customer Pro Golf Products. We laser engraved on a variety of their golf clubs and shafts to illustrate the possibilities of the laser machines that we have inhouse. Due to the wide range of products and the wide array of personalisation that is possible with the laser engraving process, the information that can be seen in this case study is corporate logos and personalisation.
These components are marked on our inhouse 70 watt SPI Fiber system with a f-180 F-theta lens, the marking process of these particular examples can vary depending on not only the amount of data contained within the laser engraving artwork, but the required depth of the laser engraving. The depth is achieved by laser engraving with multiple passes overlaying the same imagery, but at different hatch angle. (The direction the laser processes in X and Y Axis).
As can be seen from the above images, you can see the engraving depth that can be achieved whilst maintaining the visual aethestics of the artwork is quite pronounced.
As you can imagine within the golfing product range, there are a large variety of shapes for the heads of golf clubs. Not only with the variety of putters, irons, wedges and drivers, but the huge number of suppliers, makes jigging these components a very difficult task for accuracy and repeatability. You could have a jigg for each component type but that would get expensive, not only in jig costs, but storage of them. The only real solution is to use a moldable substance and a red diode pointer to indicate where the marking is to take place.
