Laser Engraving Near Sunbury on Stainless Steel – Kay Engineering

In this case study we visit our customer Kay Engineering. We currently do laser marking on a variety of their industrially machined components for the Aerospace, Medical and Oil industries. Due to the wide range of products, the information that is mainly laser marked is critical safety information, weights etc. and more importantly in these sectors is the traceability of the components.

Laser engraving stainless steel is processed on our inhouse 20 watt SPI Fiber system with a f-160 F-theta lens. The pictured product is laser engraved with four separate passes in order to establish the required contrast of black on stainless steel.

The component is located in one of universal jigs that we use on lots of different customer components as a method to quickly and accurately locate parts. These marks are repeatable to a greater accuracy than 0.1mm. For better tolerances or more detailed parts, separate bespoke jig can be made and used by ourselves.
