In this case study we will focus on a blue anodised aluminium component. The information that is laser marked on this product is a mix of product description, product informaton, product compliance and corporate branding.

This component is marked on our inhouse flash lamp Nd:YAG laser system with a f-180 F-theta lens, the marking process of these particular components takes approximately between 10 and 40 seconds. The product is laser marked with two passes, the first is to remove the anodising from the product and the second is a clean up pass, which restores the edge quality and makes the surface of the mark more uniform.

For these parts a corner jigg is used to locate the part accurately from component to component. On these components there is a requirement for a toleranced mark on the product. So the use of this jig is ideal as it has the required two end stops for both X and Y axis. For better tolerances or more detailed parts, separate bespoke jig can be made and used by ourselves.
