Laser Marking Near Littlehampton on Medical Grade Mediprene and Polypropylene – Meridian Medical Ltd for WeAreDame

In this case study we visit our customer Meridian Medical. We currently do laser marking on their reusable tampon applicators for their customer DAME. The components are made out of Medical Grade Mediprene and Polypropylene and are laser marked on along their length. The information that is laser marked onto these products is for commercial product branding.

These components are processed on our inhouse CO2 galvo system with a f-180 F-theta lens, the laser marking process of this product takes 5 seconds to mark and is a clean process. This means that no colour change or debris left behind. It is just a reflow of the material itself.

For these a ‘V’ shaped jig with a backstop is used to locate the part. So the use of this jig is ideal as it has the required ‘V’ shape to centralise the product under the laser and a back stop to ensure that the products are laser marked in the same position. For better tolerances or more detailed parts, separate bespoke jig can be made and used by ourselves.
