Laser Marking Near Meltham on Anodised Aluminium – At height UK

In this case study we visit our customer At Height UK. We currently do laser marking on a variety of their lifting, climbing and safety equipment. Due to the wide range of products, the information that is mainly laser marked is critical safety information, weights etc. and an amount of product branding.

Laser marking anodised aluminium is done on our inhouse 70 watt SPI Fiber system with a f-180 F-theta lens, the lasering process of this particular component takes approximately 3 seconds. As can be seen from the video, the product is laser marked with one ‘hatch’ pass and a outline pass to better clean up the edges of the marking and to make the marking more defined.

The component is located in one of universal jigs that we use on lots of different customer components as a method to quickly and accurately locate parts. These marks are repeatable to a greater accuracy than 0.1mm. The only tricky part with these particular karabiners is where the mark is required, meaning that the Karabiner is required to be supported in an upright position. For better tolerances or more detailed parts, separate bespoke jig can be made and used by ourselves.
