Laser Marking Near Ollerton on Anodised Aluminium – Great British Sports Cars Ltd

In this case study we visit our customer Great British Sports Cars. We currently do laser marking on a number of their car components. The components are made out of Anodised Aluminium and are laser marked on their circumference. The information that is laser marked onto these products is a part number and the customers cooperate branding.

This component is marked on our inhouse flash lamp Nd:YAG laser system with a f-180 F-theta lens, a rotary jigg in this instance and with this laser is not required, as the effective focal distance of the laser marking covers the shift in the Z-Axis of the component. The product is laser marked with two passes, this is to remove the anodising in the first pass and then clean up the marking and improve the edge quality of the overall mark.

For these parts an elaborate jigg setup is used to locate the part accurately from component to component. The ideal method to mark this part would be if the part was flat on the surface, but due to all of our machines firing downwards for safety reasons, the below jigg setup is required to hold the component upright. For better tolerances or more detailed parts, separate bespoke jig can be made and used by ourselves.
