Laser Marking Services Near Bridgend on Silicon Trays – Technovent
In this case study we visit our customer Technovent. For this customer we do laser marking of medical devices. In this case the laser marking of silicon trays. Our role was to provide product branding for the manufacturer. The laser product branding of medical components products are for their customer base. Additional information is also applied to these trays which includes CE marking, part number etc

Laser marking of Silicon Trays, in this case, was done on our inhouse flash lamp Nd:YAG laser system with a f-180 F-theta lens.
Silicon is quiet difficult to process using Nd:YAG. It is in the group of materials that can be translucent to the wavelength. In this case both the pigment and the surface finish aid in the marking being possible. Both of these help to create a barrier for abortion to the surface of the material rather than internally. We have processed the mark twice, in both cases with a very light mark. Low pulse count and low energy values. The first pass creates a more defined abortion barrier to the surface while the second pass heightens the contrast level to the surface. Resulting in a grey form of mark.

Fo these specific components being laser marked, a bespoke jigg was made to hold the Silicon tray in place and in the correct orientation, meaning that the laser mark would be in the same place every time. These marks are repeatable to a greater accuracy than 0.1mm.
These Silicon trays are used in a variety of different format but are mainly used for the transporting of medical instruments and within the operating theatres. For more indepth information and to view all other offering at the customer please visit MAGNAMAT | Technovent
