Laser marking Services near Crawley on leather – Hobbyist
In this case study we visit our hobbyist customers. For this customer they were using one of our Lighblade machines. They use a lot of different materials in their production of items, but in this case study we will look at their leather laser marking, The laser marking is used to remove the top layer of the leather and in effect burn the underneath to obtain a dark colour contrast against the top layer.
Due to the personalised nature of this type of product, the ideas and possibilities are only limited by your own imagination. In this case, the hobbyist decided to laser mark an intricate viking design, then cutting out the profile and inserting into a separate darker leather patch as shown.

These sort of products can be utilised in a number of different scenarios, some being battlefield re-enactments or for use in the cosplay industry.

For these components being lasered, unless it is part of a continuous run of similar product then no jigg is really required. The machine can be setup to run the laser whenever you position the laser head or by using the absolute coordinate system.
The marking has no negative effect on the part from the heat generated during the process, due to the localised interaction area.
